This work presents a novel phasor estimation algorithm based on the Generalized Delayed Signal Cancelation (GDSC) method, for estimating phasors in numerical protective relays. The method implementation requires the space-vector concept, the Clarke (αβ0) transform, and by means of a discretetime formulation and few arithmetic operations, pre-determined undesirable sequence component harmonics are canceled, extracting the sequence fundamental-frequency or harmonic components, which are required for numerical protective devices algorithms. The proposed algorithm for phasor estimation is applied for implementing a distance relay. The proposed and traditional algorithms are compared by using recorded fault data of a real power system.Index Terms-discrete Fourier transform (DFT), space vector discrete fourier transform (SVFT).
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
