Os resíduos dos serviços de saúde, muitas vezes, não recebem tratamento e destinação final adequada e diferenciada conforme sua natureza, tendo por destino final o mesmo local utilizado para descarte dos demais resíduos urbanos. Metodologia: O campo de estudo do trabalho foi constituído pelo Hospital Regional Tibério Nunes. A técnica de coleta de dados ocorreu a partir das entrevistas individuais, semi-estruturadas através de questionário. Resultados: Verificou-se que 53% dos pesquisados sabem informar que no Hospital Regional Tibério Nunes existe coleta seletiva de lixo. 99% dos funcionários confirmam não existir uma máquina incineradora. O Rio Parnaíba é o destino final dos líquidos do esgoto com 85% de afirmações. Discussão: Em muitos casos, o destino deste lixo é o mesmo dos demais detritos coletados na cidade, trazendo riscos para os coletores e para as demais pessoas que vão até os aterros sanitários (lixões) à procura de algum resto de alimento ou material para reaproveitamento.
RESUMOO presente estudo objetiva traçar o perfil das patentes registradas pelas universidades brasileiras. Para tanto, através de uma prospecção tecnológica de patentes realizada no website Espacenet, foram detectadas 870 patentes registradas pelas universidades brasileiras no triênio 2016 a 2018. Como resultados pode-se destacar que: a patente de invenção é a que teve maior número depósitos e a classe que mais apresentou registros de patentes foi àquela ligada às necessidades humanas. Não obstante, constatou-se que as universidades da região Sudeste brasileira concentraram o maior número de pedidos de depósitos no período analisado. Também percebeu a predominância de inventores com formação nas áreas de conhecimento consideradas como possuidoras de vasto campo de pesquisa aplicada, as quais são consideradas pela literatura como fontes de criatividade.
