Resum: Aquest article analitza la poesia que Josep Maria de Sagarra va escriure durant els anys vint i trenta -exclosos El comte Arnau, Poema de Nadal i la poesia satírica-per descobrir-hi les raons de fons que hi propicien el joc irònic. S'observa una neta diferència en la poesia escrita en cada una de les dècades, en relació amb un canvi en les circumstàncies personals i la sensibilitat manifestada envers noves estètiques. Si en la poesia dels anys vint la ironia, esgrimida com a defensa, havia de conviure amb la voluntat de depuració poètica, l'impacte del surrealisme i el contrast provocat per la coneixença de noves terres sentides com a estranyes aporten noves raons per al distanciament en la poesia dels anys trenta.Paraules clau: ironia, Josep Maria de Sagarra, poesia pura, surrealisme.Abstract: This paper analyses the poetry that Josep Maria de Sagarra wrote during the twenties and thirties -excluding El comte Arnau, Poema de Nadal and his satirical poetry-to reveal the deep reasons that favoured the ironic play.
