The effect of the application of lutein polyester film as a corrosion inhibitor in AISI 1018 carbon steel in a 3.5% NaCl solution at room temperature and without stirring was studied. The corrosion rate assessment of carbon steel was performed using electrochemical techniques such as potentiodynamic polarization. The results indicated a decrease in the corrosion rate of AISI 1018 carbon steel as the lutein concentration was increased from 0.053 mm/year without film to 0.0083 mm/year for a concentration of 0.04 g/mL. Lutein polyester showed properties to be used as corrosion inhibitor.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
