The essential oils composition of the air-dried ginseng roots Panax quinquefolium L. cultivated in Poland and Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer cultivated in the North of China in Jiling were isolated by hydrodistillation and analyzed by capillary GC and GC-MS. The 60.91% of compounds in American roots Panax quinquefolium L. and 74.12% in Chinese roots Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer were identified. Differences in composition of obtained volatile oils were occurred. The main identified constituents of the oil from Panax quinquefolium L. were 2-epi-(E)-β-caryophyllene (20.78%), falcarinol (16.5%) and in Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer were spathulenol (11.55%), 2-epi-(E)-β-caryophyllene (10.88%).
