Natural scolecite has been found as an effective catalyst for the one-pot synthesis of 2,4,5-triarylimidazole derivatives via a three component reaction using benzil or benzoin, aldehydes and ammonium acetate. This method provides several advantages such as being environmentally benign, reusable, possessing high yields with increased variations of the substituents in the product and preparative simplicity.© Versita Warsaw and Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.

Densities and viscosities of the binary mixtures of 2-butanone with 2-propanol, 2-methyl-1-propanol, 2-butanol, and 2-methyl-2-butanol were measured over the entire mole fractions at (293.15, 298.15, 303.15, 308.15, and 313.15) K. Using the experimental values of densities, excess molar volumes V E were calculated. The results were discussed in terms of molecular interactions.
