RESUMENObjetivo: Determinar la agencia de autocuidado en los estudiantes de nuevo ingreso en la Unidad Académi-ca Multidisciplinaria Zona Media. Material y método: Estudio descriptivo, correlacional, de corte transversal. Muestra de 281 alumnos de nuevo ingreso de la Unidad Académica Multidisciplinaria Zona Media de México, de las diferentes carreras. Resultados: El cuestionario fue contestado por un total de 315 estudiantes, quedando 34 excluidos, de acuerdo a los criterios de inclusión y exclusión antes mencionados. Por lo tanto, se consiguió un total de participación de 281 alumnos. Encontramos que el 54% de la población en estudio maneja un nivel de autocuidado medio, el 42% un alto nivel de autocuidado y solo el 4% un nivel bajo. Conclusión: El 100% de los estudiantes conocían el concepto de autocuidado, por lo que se podría deducir que el conocimiento específico acerca de autocuidado no influye en la realización de menores o mayores prácticas de autocuidado; la Universidad en sí no constituyó una gran enseñanza de autocuidado, por lo que en este aspecto le corresponde fortalecer en sus alumnos el conocimiento y las habilidades para que puedan tomar decisiones acerca de su salud, a través de una mejor promoción.
En algún momento de nuestra vida, todos hemos sufrido de algún tipo de pérdida, que nos lleva a un duelo. La pérdida o perdidas puede ser de una persona, un bien material o lo que sea significativo para el doliente. Objetivo: analizar los tipos de pérdidas y tipos de duelos que ha enfrentado una mujer con Diabetes Mellitus T2. Metodología cualitativa de corte fenomenológico, historia de vida. La investigación se realizó en la ciudad del estado de San Luis Potosí, México. La informante fue una mujer de 45 años con diagnóstico de diabetes Mellitus T2 desde hace más de 20 años. La validación de la entrevista fue por medio de un verificador externo a la investigación. En las consideraciones éticas nos apoyamos en: la NOM-012-SSA3-2012, Declaración de Helsinki, principios éticos para las investigaciones en seres humanos, Ley general de Salud. En los resultados se identificaron pérdidas de 1. Salud- enfermedad, 2 Trabajo 3. Materiales, 4. Relaciones de pareja, 5. Familia, que entran en la clasificación de duelos crónicos, patológicas y en racimos. Conclusiones Las pérdidas pueden ser físicas, materiales, temporales, definitivas. También se incluyen aquellas que son metas o sueños idealizados en alguna etapa de la vida. Algunas de las perdidas requieren de apoyo profesional para poder manejarlas y/ o superarlas. Ante el diagnóstico de una enfermedad crónica degenerativa es necesario poder manejar al paciente en conjunto con un grupo multidisciplinar contando inminentemente con un psicólogo o un profesional en salud mental.
La discapacidad visual afecta gran parte de la población adulta mayor. Se trata generalmente de patologías secundarias oculares primarias o sistémicas y congénitas o idiopáticas, incluyendo presbicia, cataratas, glaucoma, degeneración macular y retinopatía diabética (RD). El objetivo de este trabajo fue conocer cuáles son las experiencias, perspectivas y significados que tienen los adultos mayores con discapacidad visual por diabetes mellitus tipo 2 (DMT2). Utilizando una metodología cualitativa con muestreo intencionado, se realizaron entrevistas a profundidad, siguiendo los principios éticos para investigación en salud. El fenómeno de la discapacidad mostró cinco dimensiones: impacto económico por el diagnóstico, vivencias de duelo ante la DMT2, vivencias de autocuidado (tratamiento alternativo, tratamiento farmacológico y reflexiones sobre el valor del tratamiento), impacto (económico, emocional y social) y vivencias con la discapacidad y sentimientos de la dependencia vs. discapacidad. Estos aportaron los elementos necesarios para hacer una pauta en el cuidado integral brindado por profesionales del cuidado.
En México, el servicio social en las universidades es una actividad temporal y obligatoria para los estudiantes. El programa educativo de la licenciatura en Enfermería de la Coordinación Académica Región Altiplano de la Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí (UASLP) incorporó la asignatura de Servicio Social como un espacio de formación y de acompañamiento para los alumnos prestadores de servicio social. El objetivo del presente trabajo fue evidenciar el impacto de la asignatura en cuestión en la formación de los alumnos de la licenciatura en Enfermería. Se trata de una investigación descriptiva y transversal. Se analizaron cuatro generaciones, del 2015 al 2018, con 166 alumnos, y se contrastaron las acciones educativas del programa con los resultados del Examen General de Egreso de Enfermería aplicado por el Centro Nacional para la Evaluación de la Educación Superior (Ceneval). En cada una de las generaciones, se incorporaron diferentes estrategias educativas a partir de exámenes diagnósticos a los alumnos de la materia Servicio Social. De las cuatro generaciones en estudio, 2015 a 2018, se obtuvieron resultados con testimonio de satisfactorio y con testimonio de sobresaliente: 93.3 %, 73.3 %, 75.0 % y 84.3 %, respectivamente, cifras por encima de la media nacional del 2017, que fue de 53.2 %. Al evidenciar, a través de una prueba estandarizada, los alcances significativos en la evaluación de los cuatro desempeños que son considerados por el Ceneval, a saber, “Educación y promoción de la salud”, “Cuidados integrales al paciente”, “Técnica y procedimientos y “Gestión, administración e investigación”, se ha demostrado el impacto positivo que la asignatura de Servicio Social tiene en el programa de la licenciatura en Enfermería de la UASLP.
