The extracts of various plants with repellent substances were tested against some stored grain pests; the “Neem” plant, Melia azadirachta L., possessed the maximum repellent property. It was found that the seeds have got the maximum repellency as compared with leaves, flowers and fruits of this plant. It was further noticed that the adults of Rhizopertha dominica F., were less affected. The larvae of Mediterranean flour moth, Ephestia kühniella Zell., fed on neem‐extract‐impregnated flour failed to pupate and their feeding activity, determined by using M‐32 labelled‐flour, was considerably reduced.

Pteromalus schwenkei, new species is a primary parasite of bean‐weevil of the genus Bruchus (Coleoptera, Bruchidae) commonly found in the southern areas of Sind province in Pakistan. It is being described and illustrated. The parasite completes a number of generations in a year, and it successfully parasitises Bruchus spp. larvae upto 30% in field populations. The liefe history of the parasite depends upon the environmental factors like temperature and humidity as well as on the physiological conditions of the host.
