Purpose: To explore the issue of notion transformation on modern logistic complex and its role in transport system. To study the world experience in the formation of such notion as “freight village” and the development experience of such projects, to compose feature list of freight village in its up-to-date understanding and to formulate recommendation list for to develop such comprehensive logistic facilities in Russia conditions. Methods: Analysis of international experience and synthesis of new technical-technological solutions for freight terminals. Results: It was determined that scientific- technical development of transport-logistic branch proceeded in parallel with knowledge development (evolution) on transport-freight complexes. It has been determined that according to the most advanced notions about transport logistics, a freight village is a promising format for comprehensive logistic facilities. Standard master plan of freight village has been carried out with the definition of promising arrangement solutions for its railway infrastructure. Practical significance: The developed scheme of railway economics of freight village can be used at designing the territories of new freight villages and industrial parks in Russia and the CIS countries.
An approach to the selection of locations for compact container sites at railway stations of main railway lines for carrying out freight operations with transit container trains is described on the example of an investment project of the JSC “Russian Railways” for organizing transportation by “Cold Express” trains. To ensure the possibility of organizing the motion of container freight trains with its reception at the station directly to the loading and unloading front, certain conditions listed in the article must be met. The approach is based on the principle of minimizing costs and maintaining the operational parameters of the reconstructed railway stations while implementing the principles of container logistics. It was concluded that the reference railway station for placing on it a container terminal specializing in handling container transport trains (including “Cold Express” trains) should be a station that has a little-used electrified receiving-departure track with a length of at least 1050 m, for which there is the possibility of receiving and departure trains in all directions and near which there is an open freight area with a hard surface with the possibility of approaching trucks. Also, conditions for the unimpeded operation of loading equipment should be ensured, i. e. there should be no obstacles in the form of pedestrian bridges and overhead catenary supports. On the pilot route Vladivostok—Moscow—St. Petersburg, 18 stations were selected, located in large cities or tend towards large cities. The analysis showed that in real conditions there are no stations that fully meet these criteria, from which it was concluded that it was necessary to carry out capital-intensive measures of various volumes associated with the achievement of the necessary parameters of the stations, such as electrification or lengthening of the track, reconstruction of the station necks, arrangement of the site, car entrances, as well as other measures.
Introduction. Under the conditions of increasing containerisation of railway freight traffific, the problem of fifinding new cargo flflows suitable for transportation of freight containers or other types of intermodal freight containers on acceptable terms for both the carrier and the consignor is becoming increasingly important. Being of a fifixed size, large-capacity containers can not always meet the demands of consignors due to insuffificient carrying capacity, body volume and tariff conditions. The article examines the technical and economic effificiency of railway transport using various types of rolling stock and corresponding logistics technologies in the search for new areas for containerisation of cargo flflows.Materials and methods. Using bulk transportation, which is weakly subject to containerisation, as example, the authors carried out an analysis of the effificiency of rolling stock depending on the type of transported bulk freight (freight density). The comparison was performed both between common types of rolling stock (conventional and increased axle load gondola) and rather rarely used types of rolling stock (articulated gondola with increased axle load, demountable railway body, open top containers and specialised bulk containers).Results. Graphs have been plotted showing the effificiency of using each type of rolling stock, expressed through the volume of transported freight per running meter of the car and through the use of the useful volume of the rolling stock itself. The comparison proved, fifirstly, the obvious thesis about the better suitability of gondola cars for the transportation of bulk freight, and secondly, it showed a signifificant deterioration in the bulk freight transportation conditions for largecapacity containers.Discussion and conclusion. The innovative system of demountable railway bodies demonstrates average results in the overall ranking, which indicates suffificient potential for the implementation of this logistics technology.
