Pesticide adjuvants are chemicals that are added to pesticide formulations in order to enhance the effectiveness of the active ingredient. Adjuvants are not intended to be pesticidal. For legislative purposes, the government of the United Kingdom defines adjuvants as “Any substance, other than water, without significant pesticidal properties, which enhances or is intended to enhance, the effectiveness of a pesticide when it is added to the pesticide.” The aim of this review article is to provide the reader with an introduction to pesticide adjuvants.
