L"examen biométrique de 55 spécimens de Tilapia zillii capturé dans le Lac Temacine, montre que les mâles sont plus ou moins plus grands que les femelles. Par contre, les caractères méristiques considérés sont invariables en fonction de sexe. Le sex-ratio global est en faveur des mâles (1 : 0,33). Il varie en fonction du temps et des classes de taille, mais cette varition n"a pas révélé de signification statistique. L"activité reproductrice est fractionnée dans le temps, elle est très intense durant la période chaude (mars à juillet). En outre, les mâlesarrivent àmaturitéavant les femelles,où la taille à la première maturité sexuelle des femelles correspond à une longueur totale de 66 mm, par contre elle estestimée à 61 mm pour les mâles.
