This article presents the methodology of ergonomic design and testing of hand-held impact tools with vibration isolation systems. An operator's hand model is proposed comprising uniform bars positioned at angles adequate to the working position of the upper extremity during soil compacting operation. The model is addressing both the subject operator's anthropometric traits and the tool's interaction with the system. Model testing data of the hand-arm system are in good agreement with the results of experimental testing, in which the level of accelerations measured both at the tool handle and at the most exposed areas of the hand, that is at the wrist and at the elbow, were determined using miniature triaxial vibration sensors. The presented hand-arm system model makes it possible to analyze interaction between the hand and the tool and transmission of vibration from the tool to the human body. The proposed methodology may be used in creating ergonomic working environments and in designing safe impact tools.

In traffic conditions, vehicle collisions often result in tire traces on the road, vehicles and humans. Tire traces on the road can have diverse characteristics. A non-classic form of such traces is the subject of the present analysis. The selected non-typical trace form is characterized by a segmental course with diverse geometric features. The goal of this work is a full analysis of the trace generation mechanism using modern simulation tools. In the paper, the influence of selected vehicle parameters and road surface characteristics on the trace form have been analyzed. Research results indicate the usefulness of PC-Crash software for analyzing road accidents, also in regards to non-typical tire traces.
Disturbances in the vehicle motion may be caused by different factors and in many cases are the reason for dangerous traffic incidents. Disturbances within the human-vehicle system are particularly hazardous. An innovative method was designed for analyzing and simulating the process of loss of vehicle motion stability after interference in the steering system, e.g. by acting on the steering wheel by the passenger. The subject of the study is the theoretical and experimental analysis of the vehicle motion path kinematics together with the duration of the disturbance, driver’s reaction time and steering wheel turning angles. PC-Crash simulation software was employed for the purpose of studying the disturbance characteristics and their influence on the loss of vehicle motion stability. It is recognized that the studied issues are as yet poorly understood, the presented results expand our knowledge base in this area and can be employed for the purpose of analysis of actual traffic accidents.
