EinleitungKognitive Prozesse wie z.B. räumliche Aufmerksamkeit führen zu Änderungen der regionalen Himdurchblutung in den betroffenen Hirnarealen. Diese Aktivierungen lassen sich mit der Positronenemissionstomographie (PET) nachvollziehen, wenn man dreidimensionale PET-Bilder unter Normalbedingung mit solchen unter Stimulation per Differenzbildung vergleicht. Wegen des schlechten Signal-Rausch-Verhältnisses lassen sich die spezifischen Effekte nur bei Mittelung über mehrere Probanden extrahieren. Dabei ist zu berücksichtigen, daß die Größe der Gehirne ebenso wie deren räumli-che Orientierung während der Messung interindividuell stark schwankt. Mit dem nachfolgend beschriebenen Verfahren können diese Schwankungen nachträglich allein anhand der PET-Daten automatisch ausgeglichen werden.
