In the dehydrogenation during 210Po a (LET = 200 eV nm-l) and 6oCo y (0.2 eV nm-l) radiolysis of C5-Clo cycloalkanes and their iodine solutions bicycloalkyls (in radical combination reactions), cross-bridged bicycloalkanes (from 1C7 rings, in unimolecular H2 elimination) and cycloalkenes (in both reactions) are produced. The yields of all of these are lower a t higher LET irradiation. While the ring sizes d o not influence the competition between the dimerization and the scavenging of the cycloalkyl radicals the yields of the unimolecular decompositions are in positive correlation with the strain energy of the ring.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
