Summary
Besides a survey of gall mites (Eriophyidae) to be found on coniferous trees it is to be reported on a new gall mite living within the young needles of the silver fir (Abies alba Mill.). Attacked needles can be detected by characteristic brownish cross‐stripes produced by the sucking of the gall mites within the parenchyma of the needles. This fir gall mite is to be described as Trisetacus abietis n. sp. (Eriophyidae, Acarina). Preliminary informations concerning its life history are to be given.
