Distribution of Candida species was investigated by examining 245 samples from skin lesions and nails. The isolates were identified using standard laboratory methods including germ tube test, micromorphology of colonies on rice agar, the commercial kit, saccharide assimilation and fermentation tests. Eight species of Candida were identified: C. albicans accounted for 56.4% of the isolates, C. parapsilosis 29.1, C. tropicalis 7.8, C. pulcherrima 2.9, C. guilliermondii 1.5, C. krusei and C. zeylanoides for 0.9% each, and C. robusta for 0.5%. The factors significantly associated with colonization were prolonged antibiotic therapy, parenteral nutrition, low birth body mass of infants, intubation, duration of stay in hospital, indwelling intravenous catheter, malignancies, diabetes, surgery, and obesity.
A questionnaire is an integral component ot methods determining the temperaments of dogs. From the range of questionnaires used for evaluation of a dogs temperament, we selected C-BARQ. this particular type of questionnaire allowed us to determine the degree of agreement of evaluations ofthe same dog by individual members of one household. Tlie evaluation included dogs in 29 bouseholds with a total of 71 members. 'Ihe degree of agreement between ratings of individual members ofthe same household was determined by Intraclass correlations coefficient (ICC). The correlations observed ranged berween 0.53 and 0.9, depending on the category. This result is further supported by the results of other studies that showed similar perceptions ofthe same dog between family members.
ABSTRACT:We have examined 35 samples of fine cottage cheese, 14 samples of whole winter bryndza, 29 samples of Ondava cheese, 18 samples of skim kephir milk, 18 samples of whole acidophilous milk, 5 samples of yoghurt milk with strawberry flavour and 50 samples of fresh butter (Rajo) for the presence of staphylococci focusing on Staphylococcus aureus. All samples intended for microbiological analysis were taken directly from market establishments. None of the examined samples of yoghurt milk complied with the Codex Alimentarius because they contained Staphylococcus aureus bacteria on the level of 100, 65, 5, 75, and 60 CFU/ml. The other analysed food products satisfied the current standards with regard to the presence of staphylococci.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
