The present study refers to the evaluation of the prevalence of anti-HCV positivity and its correlation with biochemical markers of chronic liver disease (negative), dialytic age (positive) and blood transfusions (negative) in 56 hemodialized patients.
This paper reports a patient with salt-losing nephropathy, phosphaturia, glucosuπa, hypercalcmria and bicarbonaturia, i.e. urinary abnormalities due to proximal tubular defects. Oral indomethacin caused a complete normalization of urinary alterations. These results show that indomethacin is effective in the treatment of proximal tubular defects and suggest that this therapeutic effect is due to an overall increase in proximal tubular reabsorption.
We studied the ultrastructural changes induced by intraperitoneal indomethacin on the visceral peritoneum of rabbits treated by peritoneal dialysis. We observed two outstanding effects: a) an increase in the number and size of endothelial vesicles and b) an almost complete disappearance of the endothelial intercellular spaces. The mechanisms of these changes are discussed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
