Abstract-The framework of this work is the Medical Image Processing for film mammography quality assessment. The same one consists of developing a phantom, a software and a protocol to evaluate the image quality of mammography equipment. The test element used for this analysis is an edge phantom mounted on a block of acrylic (polymethylmethacrylate) of 40mm thick. The software allows the measurement of parameters that assess the characteristics of an image, such as: the Modulation Transfer Function, Contrast to Noise Ratio and Uniformity. To implement the software, the films acquired with the phantom should be scanned to convert them to digital format. The protocol aims to unify the conditions under which images are acquired for their further evaluation. Once defined the procedure for the study, the captures were realized in five centers of health of the province of San Juan. The results are shown using tables and graphics, that permit to quantify and comparate different parameters. This method define a technics to make the objective quality image measurement as final product.Palabras claves-Image quality, phantom, protocol, comparative study.
