On the basis of research carried out at DzhezkazganNIPltsvetmet [the Dzhezkazgan Scientific Research and Planning Institute for Nonferrous Metals], safe water-filled Dzhezpollt mixtures with controllable charging density and detonation velocity have been developed.Dzhezpolits are mechanical mixtures of commercial ammonium nitrate explosives (Grammonit 79/21 or granulated ammonium nitrate) and granulated polystyrene foam (GPF). The latter~ with a bulk density of 0.01-0.03 g/cm a, is a hydrocarbon, and simultaneously plays the parts of a combustible filler and a density regulator. According to the polystyrene-foam content, the density of the explosive mixtures ranges from 0.2 to 1.0 g/cm a and the detonation velocity from 1600 to 4200 m/sec.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
