<p>El documento a continuación relata el desarrollo investigativo, análisis y resultados de la evaluación geotécnica de las escombreras como alternativas ambientales para la recuperación de zonas que presentan el problema de erosión en mesetas urbanizadas, como sucede con el incremento de sectores erosionados en la meseta del área metropolitana de Bucaramanga- AMB-. Tradicionalmente, la erosión en el AMB se ha manejado con técnicas ambientalmente ineficientes como revestimientos y muros, económicamente costosas como gaviones y geomembranas y socialmente excluyentes en tanto implican desalojos y conflictos de uso del suelo con las comunidades. El objetivo principal del trabajo investigativo, base de este artículo, fue el de evaluar la técnica constructiva de escombreras a partir del modelo 1:1 en una escombrera piloto denominada comercialmente: “Botadero de Tierra El Parque”, que se encuentra localizada precisamente en la meseta de Bucaramanga. La metodología seguida para tal evaluación se orientó hacia la comprobación de la hipótesis acerca de la utilización de la opción del aprovechamiento de las escombreras como una técnica ambiental que fuese eficiente para el control del problema de la erosión, económicamente viable para las entidades responsables; y socialmente incluyente con la participación de las comunidades que habitan zonas en condiciones o en peligro de erosión. </p>
