The electrochemical polymerization of some Schiff's base‐type monomers like pyrrole‐2‐aldehyde azine, N,N′‐di(2‐pyrrolylmethylene)‐1,4‐diaminobenzene
, and N,N′‐di(2‐pyrrolylmethylene)‐4,4′‐diaminobiphenyl
proceeds as a precipitating polymerization to the anodic compartment. The voltammetric study of monomers and polymers using Pt electrodes and paste‐carbon electrodes were carried out. The results are in agreement with the MO calculations using the Hückel approximation for evaluating of the reactivity of the monomers.
The electroinitiated anionic polymerization of p-diethynylbenzene was carried out in various solvents with different solvation capacity using various electrolytes. The latter were classified depending on their efficiency for the polymerization which was found to be in good agreement with polarographic measurements. IR and H NMR spectral analyses of the polymers obtained showed the formation of extended x-conjugated systems with only one of the two acetylenic bonds having reacted, thus giving soluble products suitable for structural studies.
The thermal stability of some polymers with conjugated double bonds has been studied under dynamical conditions of heating. It was found that nature of the substituents plays an important role in the thermal behaviour of the polymers.

Pyrrole-Zaldehyd azine, N,N'-bis(2-pyrrolylmethylene)-1,4-diaminobenzene and N,N'-bis(2-pyrrolylmethylene)-4,4'-diaminobiphenyl were polymerized by electrochemical precipitating oxidation reaction in 1 ,Zdichloroethane and acetonitrile, respectively, in the presence of electrolytes like tetrabutylammonium perchlorate, tetrabutylammonium tetrafluoroborate and sodium p-toluene sulfonate. The doped resulted polymers were characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy and thermal analysis.
ZUSAMMENFASSUNG:Monomere mit Pyrrol-Einheiten und dem Strukturelement der Schiffschen Basen wurden durch elektrochemische Oxidation bei gleichzeitiger Fallungspolymerisation in 1,2-Dichlorethan oder Acetonitril hergestellt. Als Monomere wurden Pyrrol-2-aldehydazin, N,N'-bis(2-pyrrolylmethylen)-1,4-diaminobenzol bzw. N,N-bis(2-pyrrolylmethylen)-4,4'-diaminobiphenyl und als Elektrolyte Tetrabutylammoniumperchlorat, Tetrabutylammoniumtetrafluoroborat sowie Natrium-p-toluolsulfonat eingesetzt. Die dotierten Polymeren wurden mittels Elementaranalyse, IR-Spektroskopie und Thermoanalyse charakterisiert.
