Abstract 2014 With the extension of the finite strain expansion of the Mie-Grüneisen equation to the case of noncubic crystals, we get an expression for the free energy taking into account the elastic constants up to the fourthorder. Hence, equations giving the strain parameters and the elastic moduli versus temperature are derived. Numerical results are given (and compared to experimental data) for the temperature variation (from 0 to 300 K) of the elastic adiabatic moduli C11, C12, C44 of two cubic solids : aluminum and copper. Finally, the second pressure derivatives of these moduli are estimated at zero pressure and 300 K.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
