Se presentan resultados relativos a la inequidad en el acceso a la aten- ción y al tratamiento antirretroviral y las pruebas CD4 y carga viral de la Población Indígena con VIH en Latinoamérica a partir de una investiga- ción documental. Se analiza y discute la inequidad en el acceso y disfrute de la atención médica de la población indígena, con respecto a la pobla- ción no indígena, debido a la yuxtaposición de factores como la violencia estructural, de género, el racismo y la discriminación por la condición de salud, a partir de la configuración material y simbólica del servicio de salud dirigido a la población mestiza mayoritaria en sociedades étnico-racialmente estratificadas. En particular, se analiza el nivel de las representaciones de las/los médicos respecto a estas/os usuarios, y su correlato en sus praxis clínicas; la centralización de las pruebas CD4 y carga viral y su impacto en el acceso de las personas indígenas que viven en zonas rurales; las repercusiones en el acceso y la atención médica de la ausencia de traductores e intérpretes lingüísticos y culturales profesionales, en los centros de salud; y, por último, algunas de las praxis de carácter intercultural que tratan de sortear dichas dificultades.
