The synthesis of 3,3-dialkyl-3,4-dihydroisoquinolines via heterocyclization in threecomponent reaction of an activated arene with isobutyraldehyde and nitriles is described.
A New Approach to Synthesis of 3,3-Dialkyl-3,4-dihydroisoquinoline Derivatives. -The synthesis of title compounds (IV) via heterocyclization in a three-component reaction of activated arenes (I) with aldehydes, e.g. (II), and nitriles such as (III) is described. The influence of different aldehydes and nitriles, especially of benzyl substituted, is studied and the varying mechanisms are discussed. Results show that the three-component coupling depends significantly on the substituents of the nitriles. -(SHKLYAEV, Y. V.; YELTSOV, M. A.; ROZHKOVA, Y. S.; TOLSTIKOV, A. G.; DEMBITSKY*, V.
