A região semiárida brasileira caracteriza-se por apresentar baixa disponibilidade hídrica devido a persistentes períodos de seca, com isso há necessidade de melhor uso da água na irrigação das culturas. Assim, objetivou-se avaliar o efeito do déficit hidrico, imposto nas distintas fases fenológicas, sobre a produtividade de algodão em pluma, a percentagem e a qualidade das fibras das cultivares BRS 286 e BRS 336 de algodoeiro herbáceo. O delineamento experimental foi blocos casualizados em parcelas subdivididas, com os seis regimes de déficits hídricos, aplicados em diferentes fases fenológicas do algodoeiro, formando as parcelas e, as duas cultivares de algodoeiro herbáceo, as subparcelas, em 4 repetições. As variáveis analisadas foram rendimento e percentagem de algodão em pluma e algumas características tecnológicas da fibra, as quais foram Comprimento, Uniformidade, Índice de fibras curtas, Resistência, Alongamento à ruptura, Índice micronaire e Maturidade. O déficit hídrico foi mais relevante nas fases de botão, flor e maça. As fases mais tolerantes ao déficit foram crescimento inicial e capulho. As características tecnológicas das fibras como comprimento, uniformidade, índice micronaire e maturidade, inerentes a cada cultivar, se apresentaram dentro do padrão varietal requerido pela indústria têxtil. As duas cultivares mostraram bom potencial de cultivo para o semiárido, considerando as características distintas, mas a escolha é de acordo com o interesse do produtor.

The study aimed to evaluate the mitigating effect of nitrogen (N) on the damages caused by irrigation water salinity, in the production of yellow passion fruit seedlings. A randomized block design in split plots was used, with five levels of irrigation water salinity (plot) (0.3, 1.0, 1.7, 2.4 and 3.1 dS m-1) and five doses of N fertilization (sub-plot) (180, 240, 300, 360 and 420 mg of N dm-3), with five replicates, totaling 125 experimental units, with one plant per plot. The seedlings were produced in 3.780 mL tubes, used as drainage lysimeter, which received a daily irrigation depth based on water balance. Growth and contents of chlorophyll and carotenoids were evaluated at 85 days after sowing. The increase in irrigation water salinity reduced stem diameter, plant height, number of leaves, chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b and total chlorophyll; increasing N doses also led to linear decline in stem diameter and plant height. Application of increasing doses of N did not attenuate the effect of salinity on growth and pigment contents.

Para o uso do recurso água na agricultura procura-se uma maior eficiência devido á escassez em determinadas regiões. Objetivou-se avaliar o efeito do déficit hídrico, aplicado em diferentes fases fenológicas, sobre o crescimento, fisiologia e produção das cultivares BRS 286 e BRS 336 de algodoeiro herbáceo. O delineamento experimental foi blocos casualizados em parcelas subdivididas, com os seis regimes de déficits hídricos, aplicados em diferentes fases fenológicas do algodoeiro, formando as parcelas e, as duas cultivares de algodoeiro herbáceo, as subparcelas, em 4 repetições. Foram avaliadas as variáveis de crescimento, fisiológicas e produtividade de algodão em caroço do algodoeiro herbáceo. O déficit hídrico restringiu o crescimento de ambas as cultivares de algodoeiro herbáceo, com as fases mais sensíveis sendo as de crescimento inicial, de botão floral e de flor. O déficit de 14 dias, aplicados nas diferentes fases fenológicas, não influenciou a fotossíntese das plantas de ambas as cultivares, mas alterou a condutâncias estomática e a transpiração das mesmas. As fases fenológicas de flor e de maçã foram as mais sensíveis ao déficit hídrico por apresentarem menor produção. Os tratamentos sem déficit em todo o ciclo e com déficit nas fases de crescimento inicial e de capulho, de ambas as cultivares de algodoeiro herbáceo, permitiram produtividade satisfatória em relação à média nacional.

Foram utilizadas imagens do satélite Landsat-8 OLI/TIRS e dados meteorológicos obtidos numa estação meteorológica automática. Feito o processamento das imagens, determinou-se as ETr’s diárias estimadas a partir da densidade de fluxo de calor latente (LE), obtida como resultado da equação do balanço de energia. As evapotranspirações diárias na área estudada apresentaram valores determinados pelo METRIC entre 5,0 e 6,8 mm dia-1, os quais corroboram com resultados encontrados na bibliografia. Comparando os valores de ETr estimados pelo METRIC e pelo método de Penman- Monteith, observou-se diferenças relativamente baixas, inferiores a 6,0%, o que enquadra como um nível de precisão satisfatório e aceitável, logo, essa é uma boa ferramenta para a determinação das necessidades de água das plantas e na tomada de decisões quanto ao uso dos recursos hídricos.   Palavras-Chave: sensoriamento remoto, uso consuntivo, Musa spp.     DINIZ, R. REAL EVAPOTRANSPIRATION OF THE DWARF CAVENDISH BANANA DETERMINED BY THE METRIC ALGORITHM IN THE SEMIARID REGION OF CEARA           2 ABSTRACT   The present work aimed to estimate the daily real evapotranspiration (ETr) through the application of the METRIC (Mapping evapotranspiration at high resolution and with internalized calibration) algorithm by means of remote sensing techniques, in an irrigated area cultivated with dwarf cavendish banana in the municipality of Barbalha, CE and to compare the ETr with the one calculated by the Penman-Monteith method. Landsat-8 OLI / TIRS satellite images and   meteorological data obtained in an automatic meteorological station were used. After processing the images, the daily estimated ETr’s were determined from the latent heat flux density (LE), obtained as a result of the energy balance equation. The daily evapotranspiration’s in the studied area presented values ​​estimated by the METRIC algorithmic between 5.0 and 6.8 mm day-1, which of them corroborate with the results .found in the bibliography. Comparing the values ​​of ETr estimated by the METRIC in relation to the Penman-Monteith method, low differences were observed, less than 6.0%, which fits as satisfactory and acceptable level of precision, so this is a good tool for the determination of the crop water requirements and in the decisions-making regarding to the use of water resources.   Keywords: remote sensing, water consumption, Musa spp.

Aiming to evaluate the gas exchange of upland cotton cultivars cultivated in the Brazilian semiarid, subject to water deficit periods on the phenological stages, an experiment was carried out at the Campina Grande Federal University, Pombal county campus, Paraíba State, Brazil, between June and December 2015. Treatments were formed from a split-plot arrangement, in which the plots were 6 water deficit periods (P) (P1 = No deficit, P2 = Deficit in the initial growth stage, P3 = Deficit in the flower bud stage, P4 = Deficit in the flower stage, P5 = Deficit in the boll stage and P6 = Deficit in the open boll stage) and the subplots, 2 upland cotton cultivars (C) (C1 = Brazil Seeds 286 and C2 = BRS 336), in randomized block design, with 4 replicates. Water deficits reduced the gas exchange of the upland cotton plants, mainly stomatal conductance, transpiration and photosynthesis. The cotton cultivars BRS 286 and BRS 336 presented similar behavior in the different water deficits applied on different phenological stages. Cotton was less tolerant to water deficits in the boll formation stage and more tolerant in the initial growth and flower bud stages.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the gas exchange of ‘Redondo Amarelo’ passion fruit seedlings under the mitigating action of nitrogen fertilization on the salinity of irrigation water. The experiment was carried out in a greenhouse of the Universidade Federal de Campina Grande (CCTA-UFCG), Campus of Pombal, PB, Brazil, The experimental design was in randomized blocks, split plots, comprising five irrigation water electrical conductivities (plot) (ECw) (0.3; 1.0; 1.7; 2.4 and 3.1 dS m-1) and five doses of nitrogen (subplot) (60; 80; 100; 120 and 140% of 300 mg of N dm-3), in five blocks. Plants were grown in pots (Citropote JKS®) with volume of 3.780 mL, filled with soil, bovine manure, wood shavings in a proportion of 2:1:0.5 (mass basis), respectively. Water with salinity levels was applied in the period from 40 to 85 days after sowing. The internal CO2 concentration, transpiration, stomatal conductance and photosynthesis were measured at 55 and 70 days after sowing. There was an attenuating effect of nitrogen doses at irrigation water electrical conductivities of 1.7 and 2.4 dS m-1 on photosynthesis at 55 DAS. Irrigation water salinity reduces most of the variables evaluated, especially at the highest level studied (3.1 dS m-1).
