Gastric lipomas are very rare benign tumors. Only around 217 cases have been reported. Most gastric lipomas are found incidentally; however, larger neoplasms can be symptomatic. The presented 64 years old male with incidental finding of pyloric lipoma adds another example to the few documented in the literature. The patient had symptoms of breath shortness and lack of energy two months after COVID 19 pneumonia. A low dose CT scan with iodine contrast enhancement of the chest and upper abdomen led to the diagnose. The diagnosis of gastric lipoma can be achieved through diagnostic imaging or the combination of endoscopic techniques. Treatment can be carried out by endoscopy, robotic or classical surgery.
Of all 102 thyroid procedures 87 (85.3%) patients underwent total thyroidectomy and 15 (14.7%) had unilateral thyroid lobectomy. One hundred fifty-five (82.01%) out of 189 expected EBSLN were identified and investigated intraoperatively when trying to identify visually EBSLN by the so called classical (conventional) methods of prevention. With the use of IONM, 181 (96.76%) EBSLN were correctly identified. Compared to the preliminary results of visual identification - 155/189 (82.01%) EBSLN, the degree of identification of EBSLN through IONM reached 96.76% which is a statistically significant difference (P <0.05) Conclusion: The use of IONM during thyroid resection significantly improves the degree of identification of EBSLN compared to conventional means of prevention. Routine use of IONM in surgical interventions on the thyroid gland will be beneficial for more secure identification and prevention of EBSLN.
Gallbladder polyps are a relatively rare finding in children. The increased use of high-resolution ultrasound in childhood allows to detect gallbladder lesions in young patients. A precise diagnosis can be established using different imaging series. Abdominal contrast-enhanced ultrasound examination provides the most accurate imaging information about the nature and size of the lesion. This is important for further decisions regarding patient referral for cholecystectomy. The object of this study was to present a case of gallbladder polyp diagnosed and followed up by contrast-enhanced ultrasound.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
