PurposeThe paper seeks to explore the nature of a collaborative relationship among school and academic librarians in order to enhance the information literacy skills of students as they matriculate to college.Design/methodology/approachThe paper discusses collaboration among school librarians in Madison County, Illinois and one academic library. The major reasons for creating these partnerships and the critical success factors of the project are also discussed.FindingsThe academic library's role in facilitating collaboration may be challenging but building partnerships with local school libraries is mutually beneficial.Originality/valueExtracts the valuable lessons learned which will help others to effectively build similar relationships between school and academic librarians.
This bibliography offers a short list of recent information resources that will help the network novice become familiar with the Internet, including its associated networks, resources, protocols, and history. This FYI RFC includes references to free sources of information available on-line as well as traditional publications. A short section at the end includes information for accessing the on-line files. This FYI is intentionally brief so it can be easily used as a handout by user services personnel.
