In Supplement 81 of this Journal I read an interesting article on chondrocyte functions from Bassleer et al. (1).The authors describe their tridimensional culture model. Human chondrocytes are liberated form tissue in a usual way and then cultivated in suspension. Under these conditions chondrocytes from clusters after a few days. These clusters were shown to contain proliferating differentiated cells and to synthesize matrix components.In four figures some results are presented in detail:
