Military problems throughout the world are the presence of members in their units. The presence of personnel in units, especially in carrying out basic tasks, is in the military. Absence without permission, or called desertion, is considered illegal, which is one of the crimes regulated by law. Esprit de corps is the unit spirit which functions as a member of the unit. Esprit de corps was built since the recruitment process. Leadership plays an important role in maintaining esprit de corps unit strength. The unit's adherence to its members is expected to be able to suppress the intention of deserting unit members. This quantitative study aims to empirically determine what factors directly influence member desertion intentions. By using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) estimation technique on 300 respondents who are Navy soldiers, the results show that esprit de corps is the most significant variable to reduce desertion intentions. Indicators of more unit values provide the most powerful influence in explaining esprit de corps. Leadership is also like that but not as strong as esprit de corps. What's interesting is the influence of leadership is very strong against esprit de corps. Attention to members through direct communication is a very strong indicator of leadership in increasing unit esprit de corps.
Losing members due to death in battle or desertion from their units is detrimental to the military unit. Both will interfere with the implementation of the overall task. Killed in battle were recorded as a hero and desertion was classified as an unlawful act. The desires of desertion of soldiers must be sought to be prevented, and become part of the task of the unit commander. Likewise, the work environment must be improved so that soldiers become comfortable in working or esprit de corps as a spirit of unity must be maintained and enhanced as the pride of the corps that is able to bind members in a single unit. This quantitative study aims to empirically determine what factors directly influence the level of desertion intention of the soldier. By using structural equation modeling (SEM) estimation techniques on 302 Navy soldiers. The results of processing existing data found that esprit de corps is a very central aspect in an effort to reduce desertion intentions. Leadership also has a significant negative direct effect, although it is not as strong as esprit de corps, while the quality of work life has a direct but not significant negative effect on desertion intentions. It is interesting that the influence of leadership on esprit de corps is very significant. Leadership that pays attention to members through direct communication is capable of increasing unit esprit de corps.
Technological advancement has forced the international community to deal with the sixth generation of war, which is a conflict involving the most advanced robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), and satellite technology. This shows that warfare has evolved beyond traditional tactics because parties are no longer required to engage in face-to-face combat as they did during the first generation of conflicts. Although the "classic" war still takes place in some regions of the world, it is more sectoral in nature and only in small-scale wars. The researcher needed a description of Indonesian military research and development in dealing with sixth generation warfare: the application of artificial intelligence in military operations, hence the qualitative descriptive research approach was used. The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) must be flexible in light of the dynamics of the world's swift technology advancements, which includes updating defense equipment with artificial intelligence (AI) functionality. Due to increasingly sophisticated danger patterns, the TNI must deploy artificial intelligence, making technological advancements crucial to safeguarding the security of border areas. Keeping the Republic of Indonesia's unitary state intact comes with a "fixed price," one of which is preserving the security of the border region
