In every educational institution, knowledge is regarded as the principal asset to achieve its goals. Educators are thus required to improve and broaden their knowledge through the transfer of knowledge and information. This paper seeks to answer the following research questions: 1) how knowledge transfer is constructed, through the SECI process, based on local wisdom by educators at Early Childhood Education Programs (PAUD) in Srengseng Sawah Sub-District, Jagakarsa District, South Jakarta? 2) what kinds of local wisdom do they apply? The aim of this research is to identify the social construction that takes place in the process of local wisdom-based knowledge transfer among educators. By applying a qualitative approach and a case study method, this research found that the educators, all of whom are women, construct education based on collective consciousness of their role as mothers and their common predicament working as PAUD educators. Their role as mothers teaches them how to deal with children (as role models and motivators). Being aware of their similar condition—PAUD educators have not been given equal status as educators at formal kindergartens—they take the initiative to build a social relationship based on egalitarian values (trust and respect among each other), as well as cosmopolitan values (openness, honesty, and orientation towards information and technology). Egalitarian and cosmopolitan values are part of the Betawi culture. The significance of this research is to raise a cultural understanding of the process of local wisdom-based knowledge transfer.
The management of university libraries in Indonesia has been intervened from foreign institutions through a donation of library materials which seem for the benefit of the academic community, but it is for the benefit of the donors. Academicians, especially the young generation, are a target of donation whether as the readers of books donated to the University or as the audience of programs or activities funded by donor agencies. Based on the background, it is found how the library becomes an arena for the contestation of various interests through some "corners" build inside the University Libraries. Using the concepts introduced by Pierre Bourdieu such as arena and capitals. Supported by Vincent Mosco's theory of political economy of communication as the tools of analysis, this research reveals how the agents involved in the management of the "Corner" use the library as an "arena" to achieve their benefits. The data obtained were grouped based on the sub-theme of types capital, commodification, specialization and structuration Using phenomenological approach, it is found that Corners in the university Libraries are used as an arena of contestation of agents involved in governance to foster capital. Contestation in this study illustrates the phenomenon of actors involved in the management of Corner into the dominant-subordinate relationship.
Technological developments in the digital era have caused openness to various information to be more easily accessed and used negatively. This can open up opportunities for education actors to commit plagiarism. Overcoming and preventing plagiarism in higher education is not only the responsibility of higher education leaders, but also the responsibility of the academic community, including the library. Libraries cannot remain silent with issues related to plagiarism in the university environment. Libraries have a moral responsibility in fighting plagiarism and this is where libraries are challenged to be able to work together with the parent institution to make various efforts to overcome and prevent the practice of plagiarism. This study aims to find out how the policies taken by universities in preventing plagiarism and what efforts can be made by university libraries in their contribution to tackling and preventing plagiarism. This study uses a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. From the results of the study, researchers found various policy ideas carried out by universities in preventing plagiarism and various efforts that university libraries could do in preventing plagiarism.
