Guiada pela busca por apreender as dinâmicas de produção e circulação imagética no universo xinguano, transitei por diferentes regiões da bacia do Rio Xingu, presenciando variadas situações nas quais a produção audiovisual assume nas aldeias uma posição central. Nesta trajetória, Alto, Médio e Baixo Xingu emaranhavam-se numa trama costurada por variadas formas de fazer, pensar, ver e circular filmes – transpondo, assim, limites convencionalmente sustentadas pela etnologia da região. A presente reflexão se constitui como um esforço por tecer um conjunto heterogêneo de observações que resultam de uma série de incursões a alguns dos povos que hoje integram o Território Indígena do Xingu (TIX). Neste ensaio, procuro delinear os contornos de um circuito imagético que se configura entre as diferentes aldeias xinguanas e que, sugiro, gera efeitos sobre o estabelecimento de relações, bem como sobre a transposição e redefinição de fronteiras, entre os povos do TIX. Partindo de minhas observações de campo, proponho que a rede regional xinguana se encontra hoje “amarrada”, não apenas por trocas comerciais, casamentos, acusações de feitiçaria e experiências políticas conjuntas, mas, também, por uma experiência partilhada de uso do vídeo.
Pensado e costurado em tempos adversos, que impuseram reconfigurações nos mais variados âmbitos de nossas vidas, este novo volume da PROA é fruto do esforço e da persistência de um grupo de discentes, pós-graduandxs em antropologia e outras áreas, por manter vivo um espaço voltado aos diálogos contemporâneos entre as Artes e a Antropologia, difundindo gratuitamente o trabalho de tantos pesquisadores. Esse esforço é também um ato de resistência, uma vez que se insere em um cenário no qual assistimos cotidianamente ao desmonte sistemático das políticas públicas e das instituições que amparam nossa atuação, sejam elas as instituições públicas de ensino, pesquisa e extensão; sejam aquelas ligadas ao fomento e à manutenção do setor cultural; sejam aquelas das áreas da saúde e ambiental, que impactam tão profundamente nossas vidas, hoje e amanhã. As Artes e a Antropologia, confrontadas também com essa complexa e desafiadora conjuntura, não apenas sofrem seus impactos, mas também respondem a ela por meio de expressões potentes e singulares.

Este relato descreve, em palavras e imagens, o processo de realização do filme “Mokõi Kovoe”, uma produção da Associação Cultural de Realizadores Indígenas (Ascuri) desenvolvida em comunidades do povo Kaiowá. Trata-se de uma breve história de como o mito de origem do pássaro sagrado Kovoe percorreu diferentes tempos, suportes, grafias e linguagens até expressar-se em cinema. O relato estrutura-se em torno de dois eixos: primeiro, o caráter comunitário desse processo de produção fílmica, proporcionando uma experiência de retomada do teko joja (jeito harmonioso de ser), depois, a relação entre este processo e o yvy rendy (mundo espiritual), sendo os ñanderu e as ñandesy (rezadores, xamãs, líderes espirituais) os principais guias e agenciadores dessa relação. Imersos em uma paisagem cosmológica em que distintos mundos são conectados por diferentes linguagens, as imagens e os sons do cinema da Ascuri – bem como os corpos-objetos que os produzem e guardam – se integram também como elementos atuantes neste campo de mediações.
