A Síndrome do Látex do Fruto (SLF) é uma síndrome alérgica que caracteriza pela alta reatividade dos pacientes em contato com látex de borracha e alguns alimentos de origem vegetal como frutas e nozes. O presente artigo objetiva compreender o desenvolvimento da SLF, seus fatores de risco e sua prevalência, além de discutir sobre esse tema pouco abordado na literatura. Métodos: Para essa revisão de literatura, foi realizado levantamento bibliográfico a partir de busca nas bases de dados Pubmed, Cochrane, Medline e LILACS, usando os descritores "Hipersensibilidade", "Látex" e "Fruta". Foram definidos como critérios de inclusão artigos publicados nos últimos 5 anos, nos idiomas português, inglês e espanhol. A partir dos critérios definidos, a pesquisa retornou 7 artigos no Pubmed, 0 artigos no Cochrane, 3 artigos no Medline e 3 artigos no LILACS. Resultados e discussão: Foram totalizados 13 artigos, sendo 4 repetidos e 9 diferentes. Verifica-se diferentes fatores de risco relacionados ao desenvolvimento da Síndrome látex-fruta (SLF) como exposição frequente ao látex, histórico de múltiplas cirurgias e presença de outras doenças alérgicas. Nos exames laboratoriais tradicionais, conhecidos como látex-sIgE, observamos uma quantificação dos anticorpos séricos sIgE. Entretanto, devido a grande variedade de alérgenos naturais, bem como padrões de sensibilização individuais, é comum ocorrer implicações e erros de interpretação dos resultados. Considerações finais: Os exames para concluir o diagnóstico nos pacientes portadores da síndrome da alergia ao látex são pouco específicos e há uma necessidade da elaboração de testes mais fidedignos a fim de diminuir os erros diagnósticos.
