O artigo apresenta algumas reflexões sobre uma pesquisa que contou com o financiamento da Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado do Rio de Janeiro. Inserida no campo de estudos dos cotidianos, estabeleceu diálogos com intelectuais da Associação de Pesquisadores(as) Negros(as) da Bahia (APNB) buscando compreender, entre outras questões, como se posicionam na luta antirracista e quais repertórios político-culturais influenciaram e ainda mantêm unidos(as) estes(as) mesmos(as) pesquisadores(as) em torno da Associação. No presente texto, estão descritos os caminhos metodológicos percorridos na pesquisa, além dos descritivos da APNB. Com base nos pressupostos da história oral estabeleceu-se um “xirê” epistêmico decolonial, uma aproximação, representação simbólica tomada por empréstimo do universo epistemológico afro-brasileiro, especificamente das religiões de matrizes africanas que serviu como ferramenta fundamental permitindo localizar, a partir das narrativas destes(as) intelectuais negros(as), as suas experiências nos diversificados movimentos negros e nas universidades. Todas essas questões foram desenvolvidas à luz do conceito de Amefricanidade (GONZALEZ, 1988).
