Este artigo teve como norte, a necessidade de estudar as oito Competências Sustentáveis estabelecidas pela UNESCO. A proposta deste trabalho é analisar a relação das competências necessárias com olhar voltado à sustentabilidade dentro dos Objetivos do Desenvolvimento Sustentável (ODS), tanto individual como organizacional. Trata do estudo das características com visão ampla, inserida nas exigências da empresa tendo como quesito inovação, coragem e ousadia para enfrentar as questões tradicionais, concentrando seus discursos em pautas relevantes para a preservação do meio ambiente. Para esse fim, a delimitação deste estudo se restringe à análise das publicações com abordagem qualitativa, relacionadas dentro das organizações, pontuando como tais competências são vistas e classificadas pelo seu grau de importância. O referencial teórico foi obtido pela análise do relatório publicado pela UNESCO sobre tais competências sustentáveis, além da utilização do survey exploratório em busca de opiniões e levantamento de dados. Como contribuições, apresentamos a relevância de tais competências sustentáveis para o futuro do trabalho, pelo ponto de vista do indivíduo, abrindo portas para a inovação e profundas mudanças nas dinâmicas empresariais nas atitudes do líder sustentável como organizador do conhecimento no processo de mudança, bem como de forma individualizada de cada trabalhador da organização e criando novas oportunidades de pesquisas relacionadas às competências sustentáveis para o futuro do trabalho.
