.br 1 . Key words: Ocimum basilicum L., population density, fresh mass.
This study evaluated the tolerance of U. ruziziensis under severe water stress conditions and its recovery when rehydrated, based in responses of relative leaf water content and gas exchange of the crop. The experiment was conducted in green house in Oxisol. The experimental design was a randomized block design, totaling five treatments, was represented by inoculation of A. brasilense strains AbV5 + AbV6, as follow: seed inoculation, foliar spray application, seed inoculation + foliar spray application, a non-inoculated control with water deficit treatment and a irrigated control without inoculation. Drought was imposed 45 days after sowing, after the vessel was irrigated until saturation of the substrate, by total removal of irrigation for six days, and evaluated three days after the resumption of water, evaluating gravimetric soil moisture, relative leaf water content and gas exchange. Soil moisture showed non variation to treatments non irrigated, but the relative leaf water content was lower in the control without water. The control and the treatment inoculated with A. brasilense in seeds exhibited lower rates of gas exchange. Recovery full of photosynthetic activity occurred three days after rehydration in all treatments. A. brasilense foliar sprayed is efficient to increase the tolerance of U. ruziziensis to water deficit and presented higher photosynthetic rates even under conditions of severe water deficit.
Soybean occupies a prominent place in the national scenario, and the search for new technologies is continuous. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the co-inoculation, through seeds, from diazotrophs bacteria of genus Bradyrhizobium japonicum and Azospirillum brasilense, and its effects against the nodulation, enzyme activity, gas exchange, and soybean production. The experiment was conduced in completely randomized design, with seven treatments and four replications. Seven treatments were constituted in the control (no nitrogen fertilization and seed inoculation); application of N mineral; seed inoculation with B. japonicum and A. brasilense AbV5+AbV6 and AbV5+AbV6+AbV7 strains and their co-inoculations. The evaluations were performed in V4 and R4 stages, with particular biometric characteristics of shoots and roots, the gas exchange indices of the leaves and the activity of peroxidase and phenylalanine ammonia lyase enzymes. Also in the R9 stage were determined components of production and production per plant culture. The results indicate that, when combining two species of bacteria through seeds have limitation in nodulation. The A. brasilense, strains AbV5+AbV6+AbV7, inoculated through seed promotes increase in nodulation from the natural soil population; it still raises the activity of plant defense enzymes in V4 stage, however, reduces the photosynthetic rate per foliar unit. Nitrogen fertilization, seed inoculation with B. japonicum, A. brasilense (AbV5+AbV6+AbV7) and A. brasilense (AbV5+AbV6+AbV7) + B. japonicum, provide the highest yields per plant. It has been observed even though the dry mass of root and aerial part have a direct influence on plant production, and a negative relation between stomatal conductance and the number of nodules in the growing season, and that photosynthesis does not influence the plant's production, just its production factors.
A imposição do déficit hídrico ocorreu no florescimento pleno. For this we used a randomized block design with five treatments and five replications: irrigated control, drought control, A. brasilense seed with drought, foliar spray A. brasilense with drought and foliar spray plant regulators (auxin, gibberellin and cytokinin -AX+GA+CK) with drought. The evaluations performed daily and after rehydration consisted of: relative water content (RWC), soil gravimetric moisture (Ug) and gas exchange. In severe drought the chlorophyll a fluorescence was evaluated, and at the moment of maturation, the number of pods per plant and grains per pod, mass of 100 grains and production. RWC and Ug did not show variations between treatments maintained in drought. In the gas exchanges the foliar spray application of A. brasilense assisted in the maintenance of CO 2 assimilation and increased the water use efficiency. In relation to the production the foliar spray application of A. brasilense or AX + GA + CK softens the losses in drought conditions. It is concluded that the use of A. brasilense foliar or plant regulators alleviates losses in production when the incidence of ...
