Abstract.A digital filter that improves the signal-to-noise ratio of the response of a FSCW (Frequency Stepped Continuous Wave) scheme is presented. An improvement in signal-to-noise ratio represents an enhanced readout distance. T his work considers this architecture as an interrogation unit for SAW tags with time and phase encoding. T he parameters of the proposed digital filter, which is a non-linear edge preserving filter, were studied an d tested for this specific application. An improvement of around 20dB in the SNR level was achieved. T his filter preserves the phase of the signal at the time position of the reflectors, which is critical for correct identification of the code in phase encoding schemes.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
