El objetivo de este trabajo es exponer y evaluar los principales argumentos consecuencialistas a favor y en contra de la prohibición de las drogas. Para lograr este objetivo, se revisó la literatura existente sobre el tema en bases de datos como Jstor, Springer, Sage Publishing, ScienceDirect, Taylor & Francis, etc., se identificaron, expusieron y evaluaron los principales argumentos a la luz de la literatura científica disponible. Así se determinó el valor de verdad de las premisas de cada uno de los argumentos y la solidez de cada uno de estos. Se encontró que los argumentos a favor de la prohibición no son sólidos; los otros sí. Por eso, se concluyó que no hay buenas razones para prohibir las drogas y que, por el contrario, hay buenas razones para despenalizar el consumo y legalizar el tráfico de estas sustancias.
