El síndrome de Lemierre es una enfermedad rara, ocasionada por la complicación grave de una infección orofaringea que se manifiesta con una tromboflebitis séptica en yugular interna y embolización séptica a distancia. Cursa al inicio con fiebre, dolor en área del ángulo de mandíbula, inflamación de región periamigdalina y crecimiento unilateral del cuello luego de una infección en estructuras de cabeza y cuello. Se presenta caso de mujer de 45 años quien consultó por complicación infecciosa posterior a realización de exodoncia. El diagnóstico clínico se realizó en base a los signos y síntomas que indicaban tromboflebitis séptica del seno cavernoso. Se realiza antibióticoterapia con resultados positivos en paciente y mejoría total del estado de salud. Se presenta este caso por lo infrecuente de la entidad.
Los tumores neuroendocrinos se definen como un grupo heterogéneo de neoplasias de origen epitelial, provenientes de células enterocromafines diseminadas por todo el organismo, y representan alrededor del 1 al 4 % de todas las neoplasias. Su mayor distribución se encuentra en el tracto gastrointestinal, donde se localiza el 75 % de los tumores neuroendocrinos, siendo los ubicados en el recto, el 27 % de todos los que afectan el tracto gastrointestinal. A propósito de esta revisión de tema, presentamos el caso de un paciente de 71 años de edad, que consultó por sangrado rectal rojo rutilante, sin otra sintomatología asociada, y se le diagnosticó un tumor neuroendocrino grado 1, que se comportaba como una lesión benigna del recto.
