La pandemia ocasionada por el COVID-19 ha generado diversos problemas en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje a nivel mundial, en muchos de los casos debido a la implementación apresurada de la llamada Educación Remota de Emergencia, lo que ha complejizado el proceso pedagógico actual. Es por ello que el presente artículo evalúa el uso del m-learning en estudiantes universitarios para el aprendizaje STEM, en tiempos de pandemia, mediante el uso de una aplicación móvil, la cual fue utilizada por los estudiantes para determinar variables cinemáticas. Se implementó un modelo de instrucción con foco en la motivación llamado ARCS, y se evaluó la percepción de los estudiantes mediante un instrumento diseñado para cuantificar la motivación llamado IMMS. Se aplicó un enfoque de investigación cuantitativa para recopilar, procesar y analizar los datos de investigación. El IMMS se aplicó a 47 estudiantes de Ingeniería. Los resultados muestran que la metodología fue valorada positivamente por los encuestados, y se pudo relacionar el aumento en la motivación estimulada con un mayor nivel de aprendizaje. Se proporciona un modelo de medición validado y referencias científicas sólidas, que tienen como objetivo estimular el uso de aplicaciones móviles tanto dentro como fuera de las aulas de clase.
