Durch Einwirkung von Thionylchlorid und Pyridin auf α,α‐disubstituierte Malonsäurehalbamide ist eine Reihe am Stickstoffatom unsubstituierter Azetidin‐2,4‐dione (Malonimide) dargestellt worden. Als besonders interessant erweisen sich die unerwartete Säurebeständigkeit der neuen Verbindungen sowie ihre Reduktion mit Lithiumaluminiumhydrid zu 3,3‐disubstituierten Azetidinen.
In Fortfiihrung unserer Untersuchungen iiber viergliedrige Heterocyclen haben wir neue 3.3-disubstituierte Azetidindione-(24) (Malonimide, 111) hergestellt, wobei als Nebenprodukte a.a-disubstituierte Cyanessigsaurechloride (1V) anfallen. Die Umsetzungen der Malonimide 111 mit Ammoniak, Hydrazin, Perchlormethylmercaptan und mit Formaldehyd + sekundaren Aminen sind naher untersucht worden. Als sekundare Arnine fir die Herstellung der MANNlCH-BaSen XI sind auch 3-und 2-substituierte Azetidine verwendet worden. Die Abhgngigkeit der N-Methylierung von der Art der Substitution der Azetidindione-(2.4) in 3-Stellung wurde studiert. Vorlaufige Ergebnisse der mikrobiologischen und der pharmakologischen Priifung der neuen Azetidindione-(2.4) und von deren Derivaten werden erwahnt. Die Lage der Carbonylbande im IR-Spektrum der Malonimide wird durch diesubstituenten in 1-und 3-Stellung unterschiedlich beeinfluat.Vor zwei Jahren haben wir 2) erstrnals Azetidindione-(2.4) (Malonimide) und einige ihrer Urnwandlungen beschrieben. Etwa gleichzeitig wurden von EBNOTHER und Mitarbeitern3) Herstellung und Eigenschaften zahlreicher N-substituierter Azetidindione-(2.4) rnitgeteilt. Es schien uns jetzt von Interesse, die Chemie der substituierten Malonirnide weiter auszubauen, urn eingehendere Erfahrungen iiber diese viergliedrigen Heterocyclen zu erhalten, zurnal bei dieser Klasse einige pharrnakologisch hochwirksame Verbindungen gefunden wurden. So besitzen die 3.3-Dialkyl-Derivate eine besonders kurzdauernde hypnotische Wirkung".Zur Darstellungneuer 3.3-disubstitiiierter Azetidindione-(2.4) (111) wurde das friiher 2) beschriebene Verfahren vereinfacht und verbessert :IV a: R, R = iso-C3H7; b: R, R' = n-CJHII; c: R = n-CsH7, R' = Cyclohexyl; d: R = C2H5, R = n-C3H7; e: R = n-C3H7, R' = iso-C3H7; f : R = iso-C3H7, R' = Cyclohexyl Chemistry 26, 2253 (1961).
Die Reaktion der Pyrrole (Ia)‐(Id) mit dem Phthalimid (II) unter Schotten‐Baumann‐Bedingungen liefert die Derivate (IIIa)‐(IIId) (R3: ‐H); die Analogen (IIIe)‐(IIIh) (R1: ‐H; R2: ‐Ph) werden in 57, 90/94, 78 bzw. 3 l%iger Ausbeute erhalten, wenn man (IIIa) mit den entsprechenden Alkyljodiden unter Erhitzen in Aceton, Äthylmethylketon oder Dibutylketon in Gegenwart von K2 CO3 alkyliert.

Weder reines o-Diphenochinon noch reines o-Diphenol konnten dargestellt werden. 1 I) Disproportionierung des Bis-[5.6.7.8-tetrahydro-4-rnethoxy-naphthalin-(2)]-indigoids in 5.10-2 molarer Losung. -200 mg des Diphenochinons werden in 10 ccm Benzol gelost und 24 Stdn. im Dunkeln stehengelassen. Das Benzol wird abgedampft und der Ruckstand mit Natriumdithionit in Alkohol reduziert und aus Methanol kristallisiert. Das Kristallisat stellt ein Gemisch aus 4.4'-Dimethoxy-dinaphthol-(I.l') und 4.4'-Dimethoxy-5.6.7.8.5'.6'.7'.8'ocrahydro-dinaphthol-(1.1') dar. Lost man in 80 ccm Athanol, fugt 20 ccm Wasser hinzu und vereinigt mit einer Losung von 2 g FeC13 in 20 ccm 80-proz. khanol, so flockt blaues Bis-[4-rnethoxy-naphthalin-(2)1-indigoid aus, das durch sein UV-Absorptionsspektrum charakterisiert wird. Das Octahydro-dinaphthol wird von Fe30-Ionen nicht oxydiert und bleibt in Losung.Auf das Zentralnervensystem wirkende Substanzen, XXXIII 1) Die Darstellung des 3-Hydroxymethyl-3-phenyl-azetidins (11) durch LiAlH4-Reduktion von 3-Hydroxymethyl-3-phenyl-azetidinon-(2) (I) wird beschrieben. Zahlreiche Derivate (Nund 0-Acyl-, N-Nitroso-und N-Amino-Derivate; MANNICH-Basen) von 11 werden hergestellt. Die ,,alkylierende Reduktion" sowie die Alkylierung durch Alkylhalogenide gelingt nicht. Durch Einwirkung von Saureanhydriden auf die N-Alkyl-Derivate tritt eine unerwartete Ringspaltung ein, wobei in guter Ausbeute 2.2-disubstituierte 3-Alkyl-amino-propanole gebildet werden.
