A bola suíça ou bola do nascimento é um instrumento em saúde utilizado para o alivio das dores, relaxamento e aceleração do trabalho de parto. No Brasil ainda é pouco utilizada em comparação aos Estados Unidos, Canadá, França, Inglaterra e Bélgica, é executada por profissionais da saúde como enfermeiros e fisioterapeutas. Este artigo teve por objetivo mostrar e descrever a finalidade e os efeitos do uso da técnica bola do nascimento em parturientes. Foi realizada uma revisão de toda literatura específica encontrada sobre o tema, sendo um conteúdo escasso. Foram consultadas as bases eletrônicas scielo, bireme e Google Academic no período de outubro de 2016 a janeiro de 2017; além de fontes primárias como livros. O material foi selecionado de acordo com as palavras chaves: bola do nascimento, Fisioterapia, trabalho de parto; datados de 1999 a 2016. Os resultados mostram que o uso da bola do nascimento é um recurso eficaz para alivio das dores do próprio trabalho de parto contribuindo para a desmedicalização da parturiente, relaxamento do assoalho ou diafragma pélvico e diminuição da fase ativa do trabalho de parto.Palavras-chave: Bola do Nascimento, Fisioterapia, Trabalho de Parto.
