en el límite entre las ciudades de rosario y Villa Gobernador Gálvez (Fig. 1). durante prácticamente todo su recorrido presenta barrancas de escasa altura, pero a 2,3 km aguas arriba de su desembocadura las barrancas adquieren gran potencia localizándose un salto de agua de aproximadamente 10 metros de altura. desde el salto mencionado (33°00´31´´ S-60°37´51´´ W) hasta el puente de la Av. circunvalación Pte. Illia (33°00´06´´ S-60°37´06´´ W) el arroyo brinda interesantes cortes geológicos y abundante contenido fósil sobre ambas márgenes. castellanos (1944) estudió el tramo mencionado recolectando abundantes restos fósiles de mamíferos y describiendo un perfil estratigráfico. Esta colección de fósiles se encuentra depositada en el Museo universitario de la Facultad de ciencias Exactas, Ingeniería y Agrimensura (unr), momentáneamente no disponible, la cual debe ser revisada a fin de actualizar su sistemática y significado bioestratigráfico. Más recientemente, Parent & Vega (2005) reconocieron en el arroyo Saladillo un nivel con moluscos marinos en estratos de la Fm. rosario (Parent et al., 2003) que fueron provisoriamente asignados a ?Ostrea alvarezi d´orbigny, 1842. En cuanto a la geología de la región pampeana en territorio santafesino, Iriondo & Kröhling (1995) brindaron un esquema estratigráfico general (a la latitud 34º S y lat. 32ºS). Más adelante, Kröhling & orfeo (2002) presentaron una caracterización integral de las secuencias loess-paleosuelos (Pleistoceno tardío-Holoceno) aflorantes en un sector representativo del centro-sur de Santa Fe.
