In January 2022, our genomic surveillance network identified a SARS-CoV-2 BA.1 and BA.2 coinfection in a sample from a patient residing in Brazil. Our results suggest that the true number of SARS-CoV-2 coinfections remains largely underestimated.
In January 2022, the genomic surveillance of DASA laboratories identified a SARS-CoV-2 BA.1 and BA.2 co-infection in a sample from a patient resident in Brazil. The bioinformatics protocols using DragenTM Covid Lineage App do not allow the detection of recombinants or mixed-infections. Therefore, the number of co-infections is certainly underestimated.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
