O trabalho do motorista brasileiros de transporte coletivo tem sido caracterizado por situações de vulnerabilidade e alta exposição a condições nocivas à saúde e a segurança dos trabalhadores. O enfraquecimento da força sindical ao logo dos anos tem sido objeto de vários estudos, que demonstram preocupação com os impactos sobre o fenômeno de precarização do trabalho. Este estudo tem como objetivo apreender a perspectiva do sindicato e dos trabalhadores quanto à luta pela saúde e segurança destes trabalhadores, a fim de demonstrar como se dá a discussão deste aspecto no âmbito das negociações. Trata-se de uma estudo exploratório-descritivo com abordagem qualitativa. As informações foram coletadas através de entrevistas semiestruturadas com representantes sindicais do Sindicato dos Trabalhadores Rodoviários de Belo Horizonte, no estado de Minas Gerais (Brasil) e motoristas de transporte coletivo da mesma cidade. A análise revelou que os trabalhadores possuem percepção sobre os riscos a que estão submetidos devido suas condições do trabalho, e como eles impactam de forma negativa a saúde e segurança. Também expressam com preocupação sobre a crescente dificuldade de conquistas obtidas através das negociações coletivas. Percebeu-se com este estudo a necessidade de esforço coletivo de todos – Sindicato, empresa e Ministério Público, para garantir o trabalho em condições adequadas, preservando-se a saúde física e mental dos trabalhadores. A partir das respostas dadas por sindicalistas e trabalhadores, abrem-se várias possibilidades de debate sobre o tema, com a perspectiva de buscar intervenções que possam melhorar as condições de trabalho e saúde desses trabalhadores.
Quando uma indústria está inserida em área urbana, o ruído surge como um dos principais impactos ambientais. Objetivou-se avaliar os níveis de ruído a que a comunidade vizinha a uma indústria metalúrgica está exposta. Foram utilizados dados de relatórios de automonitoramento declarados pela empresa no processo de licenciamento ambiental. Foram realizadas medições de ruído em uma escola infantil localizada no entorno da indústria. Verificou-se que as principais fontes de ruído decorrentes das atividades industriais referem-se principalmente à movimentação de veículos pesados onde se encontram as residências mais próximas ao empreendimento. Conclui-se que os níveis de ruído estão em desacordo com a legislação vigente, principalmente nos pontos de monitoramento localizados na lateral direita da indústria. Além disso, o ponto de medição na escola infantil mostrou-se bastante crítico, visto que os níveis de ruído neste ponto são considerados elevados pela NBR 10.151/2000.
Este artigo tem como objetivo investigar a influência de uma mineradora de grande porte sobre a gestão da Saúde e Segurança Ocupacional (SSO) em uma pequena empresa terceirizada que fornece serviços de fabricação de implementos rodoviários, manutenção e higienização de veículos diversos. Para isto, utilizou-se a metodologia de estudo de caso com o propósito de analisar de forma aprofundada tal influência. A pesquisa foi dividida em três fases, sendo elas a coleta de dados, análise e apresentação dos resultados e redação do relatório. Os resultados indicam que houve grande influência da empresa mineradora sobre as questões relativas à gestão de SSO. Esta influência pôde ser evidenciada por meio de mudanças internas na empresa terceirizada, principalmente com relação ao aumento de investimentos e ampliação do comprometimento com a saúde e segurança ocupacional. Estas mudanças foram motivadas por exigências contratuais estabelecidas entre elas, as quais extrapolam simples preocupações com requisitos legais vigentes no país.
