Carya illinoinensis (Wangenh.) K. Koch) es el frutal de mayor importancia en la región agrícola de delicias. Chihuahua, ocupando el sitio número uno en la producción de este producto a nivel nacional (SAGARPA, 2018). El nogal es atacado por diferentes microrganismos que causan serios problemas que reducen el rendimiento de los mismos. Es importante conocer algunas características edáficas que favorezcan o condicionen la presencia del nematodo en huertas de nogal, para en base a esta información los productores de nuez puedan prestar más atención al control del nematodo. El objetivo del presente estudio de caso fue determinar cuáles son los factores edáficos que influyen en la presencia del nemátodo Meloidogyne sp en el nogal pecanero. El estudio se llevó a cabo en los municipios de Delicias, Meoqui, Saucillo y Rosales del estado de Chihuahua Figura 1. Se tomaron 243 muestras de suelo de 60 nogaleras de septiembre del 2016 a enero del 2018. Los resultados indican que el nemátodo Meloidogyne sp., no es exclusivo de algún tipo de textura y puede estar presente en diferentes clases texturales de suelo. Se encontró una relación significativa entre la alta concentración de Fósforo-Olsen y un mayor número de árboles con presencia de hembras de Meloidogyne sp. parasitando la raíz del nogal. Se encontró una relación significativa entre la concentración del valor muy bajo de Zinc y la presencia de hembras de Meloidogyne sp. parasitando la raíz del nogal.
