Os colmos das espécies de bambu que ocorrem em regiões tropicais, como as do gênero Guadua, são suscetíveis aos organismos xilófagos o que implica na redução de sua vida útil nas inúmeras e importantes aplicações. Desta forma, preconiza-se a aplicação de produtos preservativos naturais ou convencionais para aumentar a sua durabilidade quando em uso. O presente trabalho tem como objetivos avaliar as modifcações das características anatômicas e física de colmos de Guadua sp. submetidos a tratamentos preservativos com produtos convencionais, naturais e residuais. Colmos de bambus do gênero Guadua sp. foram coletados na foresta do Parque Zoobotânico da UFAC e preparados corpos de prova submetidos aos tratamentos com água salgada, óleo residual e solução de boro. As alterações da estrutura anatômica e da densidade aparente dos colmos foram analisadas por técnicas de histologia e de densitometria de raios X, indicando que somente o tratamento com solução salina (água salgada e solução com boro) resultou em diferença signifcativa (p<0,05) em relação à testemunha. Os resultados da Análise de Componentes Principais mostraram que a características anatômicas e física dos colmos mais relevantes foram a % de parênquima-fbras e a densidade nos componentes 1 e 2, respectivamente. No presente trabalho são discutidos os aspectos da efetividade, praticidade dos tratamentos preservativos dos colmos de bambus do gênero Guadua.
