The Biomass represents an alternative and a relevant solution for using less fossil energy while preserving the environment. Therefore, the performance of the rapeseed oil as a fuel has been investigated in a 100kW pre-pilot plant and the results have been compared with those obtained with light and heavy petroleum fuel oils. In particular, carbonaceous particles and PAH formation along the three spray flame axes have been studied by optical (Laser Light Scattering) and gas-solid sampling techniques. Additional measurements of the local value of the extinction coefficient compared to the scattering information made it possible to distinguish between soot particles and cenospheres. The kinetics of formation and burnout of the particulate matter identified in terms of number concentration of soot particles and cenospheres, have been evaluated. Moreover the results have shown that the rapeseed oil flame is less polluting than fossil oil flames.
COMPARATIVE STUDY OF INTERFERING FILMS GROWN ON 204 AISI STEEL BY THE ELECTROCHEMICAL METHOD APPLYING SQUARE WAVE CURRENT AbstractFilms of colored interfering oxides add aesthetic improvements and can influence the corrosion resistance of stainless steels. In order to be comparative, in this work oxide films were grown on AISI 204 stainless steel by the electrochemical method. The current density was evaluated by Hull cell, while the growth time and temperature of the system were evaluated by systematically varying of these parameters. Susceptibility to corrosion was evaluated by salt spray and condensed steam chamber tests. The current density was defined by 0.3 A/dm 2 and 40°C as the best parameters for the production of the oxide. The corrosion tests showed that the oxide films reduce the corrosion resistance of steel, but is not related to the thickness. The surface characterization revealed that the films are porous and rough. The chemical composition showed that the coloration process produces films rich in chromium. Keywords: Stainless steel; Anodizing; Coloring.
