A pandemia do COVID-19 provocou diversas alterações na prática médica, especialmente na prática cirúrgica, modificando tanto as formas de examinar e tratar os pacientes com apendicite aguda (AA) quanto a complexidade dos casos devido à demora e adiamento em comparecer ao serviço de emergência. O objetivo desta revisão sistemática foi compreender e examinar as mudanças mais relevantes e significativas no auge da pandemia, no período entre janeiro de 2020 e abril de 2021, com relação ao manejo inicial e terapia dos pacientes com AA. Foi realizada uma busca nas plataformas PubMed e Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS), na qual foram encontrados um total de 25 artigos científicos após a realização dos critérios de inclusão e exclusão. Através dos estudos analisados, foi observado uma tendência crescente na utilização do tratamento conservador com antibióticos, orais em casos mais simples e intravenosos em apendicites complicadas/perfuradas. Foi observado também, em um primeiro momento, um receio e diminuição da utilização da abordagem laparoscópica em comparação à abordagem aberta, muito devido à falta de estudos conclusivos com relação ao risco de disseminação devido ao processo de aerossolização. Em conclusão, é importante que os profissionais de saúde exerçam um planejamento mais cuidadoso na admissão e triagem dos pacientes e sigam de forma rigorosa os protocolos cirúrgicos, para que tanto a antibioticoterapia quanto a apendicectomia de emergência possam ser oferecidas com segurança e com menores risco de complicações e disseminação do vírus COVID-19.
A faringoamigdalite é uma das causas mais frequentes de busca aos cuidados com a saúde. A febre reumática é uma complicação tardia inflamatória, não supurativa, da faringoamigdalite pelo Streptococcus β haemolyticus do grupo A, podendo acometer diferentes regiões do corpo. O objetivo do presente estudo foi analisar o perfil epidemiológico das internações por febre reumática no Brasil nos últimos 5 anos. Para realização deste estudo foram analisados dados epidemiológicos do DATASUS- Sistema de Informações Hospitalares do SUS (SIH/SUS) do Ministério da Saúde no período de janeiro de 2016 a dezembro de 2020. Os dados analisados sobre as internações por febre reumática foram o número de internações e óbitos estratificados pela faixa etária dos pacientes. Foi possível observar uma grande prevalência das internações por febre reumática, com um total de 10.458 e uma baixa mortalidade com apenas 256 óbitos. A faixa etária com o maior número de internações foi a de 50 a 59 anos e com maior mortalidade foi de 70 a 79 anos. Apesar da baixa mortalidade, as complicações da febre reumática são graves, principalmente as cardíacas. Desta forma é de suma importância que o diagnóstico precoce e tratamento adequado das faringoamigdalites sejam aprimorados para futuramente o número de complicações por febre reumática apresente uma queda e consequentemente suas internações e gastos de saúde com as mesmas.
