O papel do cão como um hospedeiro definitivo de parasitoses intestinais com potencial zoonótico tem sido largamente reconhecido como um problema de saúde pública. Este trabalho analisou a prevalência e distribuição de enteroparasitas em fezes de cães de rua de oito cidades dos diferentes biomas nordestinos, com interesse de investigar a contaminação ambiental por enteroparasitas zoonóticos. 340 amostras fecais foram coletadas nos municípios de João Lisboa e Raposa (Maranhão), Piripiri e Domingos Mourão (Piauí), Fortaleza (Ceará), Petrolina (Pernambuco), Paulo Afonso e Salvador (Bahia). Deste total 43,2% resultaram positivas para alguma espécie de parasita intestinal. Maiores prevalências foram encontradas por ancilostomídeos com 43,5%, seguidos por Toxocara canis com 15%, Neospora sp. com 10,2% e Cryptosporidium sp. com 8,2%. Analisando a porcentagem de positividade por enteroparasitas nos quatro biomas da região Nordeste, o bioma Mata Atlântica foi o que apresentou maior prevalência (54,9%), seguido da Amazônia (54,3%), Caatinga (40,2%) e Cerrado (31,8%). O estudo da ocorrência e distribuição desses parasitas contribui com a vigilância epidemiológica das doenças enteroparasitárias e na aplicação de programas de saúde pública e veterinária para minimizarem a possibilidade de infecção e reinfecção dos animais e a transmissão para seres humanos.
O objetivo foi conhecer a prevalência e condições socioambientais da população brasileira acometida por geo-helmintos nos últimos dez anos. Estudo exploratório e descritivo de revisão integrativa de literatura com recorte temporal de 2010-2020. Busca realizada em quatro bancos de dados de acesso aberto. Estatística descritiva utilizada para os cálculos de prevalências dos geo-helmintos e dados socioambientais. Um total de 841.107 amostras humanas foram incluídas nos 55 estudos elegíveis para esta revisão. A prevalência combinada de geo-helmintos no país foi de 19%. Ascaris lumbricoides (68%) foi o mais prevalente, seguido por Ancilostomídeos (24%) e Trichuris trichiura (8%). Alta prevalência foi observada na região Centro-Oeste (22%), Nordeste (19%) e Norte (14%). Saneamento precário, hábitos inadequados de higiene e baixa renda foram os fatores associados às geo-helmintíases mais reportados nos estudos. As infecções geo-helmínticas ainda são prevalentes no país embora apresente uma ligeira queda nos últimos cinco anos. Assim como a tendência mundial, Ascaris lumbricoides foi o geo-helminto mais prevalente. Dente os principais fatores associados às infecções, destacam-se o saneamento precário, hábitos inadequados de higiene e a baixa renda. Esperamos que os resultados desta revisão sirvam como uma contribuição para as políticas públicas e administrações regionais com programas de sensibilização da população acerca da prevenção e cuidados para não propagar a infecção, além de investimentos na infraestrutura no setor de coleta de lixo, rede de esgoto, tratamento de água e expandir a administração em massa de tratamentos antiparasitários no Brasil.
O objetivo da presente pesquisa foi avaliar o grau de conhecimento dos pais de crianças moradoras do município de Mirassol D’Oeste acerca das parasitoses intestinais e as possíveis vias de contaminação. Foi realizado um estudo transversal com estatística descritiva e análise de dados qualitativos que através de questionário baseou-se na compreensão, experiência ou conhecimento, de pais ou responsáveis por 60 crianças de até treze anos, acerca das parasitoses intestinais. A maioria dos pais e responsáveis das crianças, 45%, possuem ensino superior; 76,67% usam água de poço para consumo; 81,67% tem coleta pública de lixo; 80% dos entrevistados responderam saber o que é parasita intestinal; 78,33% sabem reconhecer quando a criança está parasitada; 88,67% já tomou remédio antiparasitário e 85% referiram que as crianças lavam as mãos antes das refeições. Este estudo mostra que a população estudada possui conhecimentos básicos sobre as parasitoses intestinais, que pode ser o reflexo do nível de escolaridade e acesso a informações sobre a temática. A maioria dos entrevistados sabem identificar os sintomas, realizam exames de fezes nas crianças e utilizam medicamentos antiparasitários. Nossos resultados demonstram que o acesso a informações e o conhecimento acerca das parasitoses intestinais é a maior medida preventiva contra as infecções. Assim fica evidente a necessidade de ampliar ainda mais o acesso a informação, seja através de redes sociais, podscast, vídeos educativos, palestras, panfletagem, visitas domiciliares, para abranger toda a comunidade elevando os níveis de higiene e autocuidado e diminuindo as taxas de infecções.
Este trabalho teve por objetivo avaliar o percentual de positividade de Blastocystis spp. na população de quatro municípios de dois biomas do estado de Mato Grosso. As coletas de fezes foram realizadas nos municípios de Barão de Melgaço, Cáceres, Nova Xavantina e Cuiabá, nos biomas Pantanal e Cerrado. Foram coletadas 708 amostras fecais, o grupo amostral foi dividido em duas categorias sendo 350 provenientes do grupo I, o qual compreendia uma população composta por integrantes com idade entre 5 a 15 anos e 358 provenientes do grupo II, composto por integrantes com idade de 16 anos acima, destas 17,93% estavam positivas para Blastocystis spp, sendo que 11,15% eram amostras de pertencentes ao primeiro grupo e 6,77% referentes ao segundo grupo. Barão de Melgaço foi o município que apresentou a maior positividade (25,5%), e Cáceres a menor (7%). O bioma Cerrado apresentou um percentual maior de amostras positivas na população geral (21,10%) em relação ao Pantanal (15,5%). Houve diferença significativa para o percentual de positividade com relação à faixa etária, não havendo diferença entre os indivíduos por sexo ou por biomas. Este trabalho possibilitou um maior conhecimento sobre a realidade mato-grossense quanto à infecção por Blastocystis spp.
O objetivo desse estudo foi analisar frequencia de amostras positivas entre técnicas coprológicas no diagnóstico de enteroparasitas em pacientes portadores do vírus HIV no Alto Pantanal. Foram coletadas e analisadas amostras fecais de 28 pacientes portadores do vírus HIV, em que as técnicas utilizadas foi a de sedimentação espontânea, método de centrífugo-flutuação em solução de sacarose e a técnica com coloração de Safranina. Na técnica de Hoffman a maior positividade de enteroparasitas foi a observada para o protozoário Blastocystis spp. comum a frequência de 52,38%, seguido por Giardia lamblia com 21,47%. Em Sheather a maior positividade também foi Blastocystis spp. 63,8%, seguido por Giardia lamblia 33,33%. A técnica utilizando o corante de Safranina possível identificação de quatro protozoários que não foram visualizados nas técnicas de sedimentação e flutuação. O princípio que diferem as técnicas de flutuação e sedimentação no diagnóstico não condiz com os resultados observados nesse estudo, tendo em vista que ambas as técnicas apresentaram eficiência na detecção de protozoários, como o Blastocystis spp. e Giardia lamblia, independentemente de estarem ou não em soluções saturadas. Sendo assim, para garantir melhor resultado, a associação de técnicas resulta sempre em maior confiabilidade, principalmente quando se utilizam técnicas de fundamentos diferentes.
