Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) is the most common cause of death in children worldwide, accounting for 15% of deaths in children under 5 years of age [1]. According to data from UNICEF and the World Health Organization (WHO), in developing countries, CAP represents the cause of at least 20% of deaths in children fewer than 5 years of age [2].
